What a great combo right? In fact once I saw the sketch posted on My Minds Eye’s blog I remembered I had just recently picked up the most adorable paper with little owls and trees that I had been dying to use from the Quite Contrary Collection! I even used a few pieces of MME I had from left over layouts! Here is the sketch:
I scrapped about a moment I remembered my son and I bonding. I also created a owl embellishment from scratch to add to the layout. My son just loved the google eyes we gave him. Here is my take:
You still have time to complete the sketch and link back to their blog entry. You have till June 24th at midnight MST.

Ever just love the look, the feel, the smell (okay yes I love how new paper smells) of a scrapbooking company. I have ALWAYS loved Crate! My style has changed through the many collections but I have always just adored the colors, patterns, die cuts and did I mention the texture of their paper….Oh my….LOVE IT! So I’m showcasing just a few of my fave layouts I created with their collections! Plus I created a new one using Sketchy Thursday’s sketch of the week, scroll all the way down for this one titled “I’m so Proud of You”.
This has to be my all time favorite layout using Crate’s Zoom Collection
Next the patterns and colors coordinated within this collection just called to me in the Prudence Collection. My four year old took this photo of me, which makes the layout mean much more.
Lastly here is my take on a Sketchy Thursday sketch using Crate’s Orbit Collection. I had so much fun creating with this fun, outer space themed collection! Now your also going to laugh, see the playing card I used in my layout…well it’s a vintage playing card. I remember having the game when I was young, it was a card game a local Burger Chef (they have not been around in many, many, years) gave out in the Happy Meals…I found it on the sidewalk and it brought back memories and I knew it would go perfectly with the ORBIT Collection!

This weekend Scrap Play is celebrating the Dad in your life. The DT’s assignment was to create a father themed layout. I knew I had some fun pics of my husband goofing around with Bray that would work out great for this assignment. I’ll be sure to post the layout at the end of my post. Check out what the DT created to get your mojo moving. Now in honor of all the dads out there, Scrap Play is giving away blog candy. What do you have to do you ask? Well it’s easy go to the link here. Leave a comment telling us what one of your Dad’s favorite sayings is. Easy as that! And don’t forget to wish the father like figure in your life a Happy Father’s Day this weekend!

I had indicated last month that I was submitting for the Nikki Sivils DT. I just love her paper collections and embellies! Even though I did not make the team I was absolutely thrilled to see that I was noted under the honorable mention section! Out of all the entries they received I was excited to see I made this category. I will try again next time. Here is a card I created for the call. I just loved all the cute little houses! I have a friend that is building a home and will be moving soon, I plan to give this card with her gift!

This week I was inspired by Sketchy Thursday’s sketch of the week. I should say challenged because I was a bit stumped at first and then I saw a stack of paper I had sitting on the table by Best Creations that was beach themed and I loved the bursts of patterns. I figured why not cut the designs apart and apply them to the sketch of the week! You still have time to play, upload by Wed night at 10:00PM Eastern. This week’s sponsor is by Copic Markers a crafters best friend!
Here is this weeks Sketchy Thursday sketch:

With all of the beautiful weather we have been lately it has inspired me to get out some of the vacation pics from our trip to Disney last August and get them scrapped! I had just recently picked up some of Best Creations Collection Surf’s Up and wanted to play. I enjoyed cutting out the splash detail from the PP and applying it to my layout. Since Bray was playing in a sprinkler the detail coordinated well with my photos. I printed a bunch of other pics so I’m hoping to have time later this week to keep my scrappy mojo going! Happy Scrappin!
